Trencher Bowls are long wooden bowls--sometimes with shallow sides, sometimes with higher--that were traditionally used to knead dough. Today they are often used as attention-grabbing centerpieces or stunning fruit bowls. I rough out all of my trenchers by hand with an adze, then shape the final bowl either with a bowl adze, planer, or grinder. The final result is a bowl that has the tell-tale scalloping of a hand-hewn object rather than a turned product. This small walnut trencher measures 10"x17"x3".
